Icelandic Sheep
It’s safe to say that we are sheep fanatics here on the farm, and our flock of purebred, registered Icelandic sheep are at the heart of what we do. Icelandic Sheep are best known as a “triple-purpose” breed - producing beautiful naturally colored wool, gourmet meat and rich milk.
We breed for good mothering, parasite resistance, fine wool, and good muscling. Our sheep rotate daily from spring through fall on our 77 acres of lush pasture and woodland watched over by our Livestock Guardian Dogs, Otto and Nala. In winter the sheep are fed hay made from fields right here on the farm. They are never fed grain and grow strong from mother’s milk, good grass and forage alone.
We offer USDA certified, individual lamb cuts for pick up at the farm or other local spots. In addition to our lamb, we will have a small selection of traditional Lopi yarn and roving available for sale in the Online Farm Stand as well as naturally tanned sheepskins and our farm favorite sheep tallow lotion - all further gifts from our wooly friends.
